Contemporary Zapotec-language poetry, like Japanese haiku, celebrates the beauty of nature. Mexican poet Victor Terán shares his translations of Japanese haiku alongside his original Zapotec poems. American poet Jane Hirshfeld discusses the influence of the natural world on her work. Terán will also present a new translation of one of Hirshfeld’s poems into Zapotec. Poet David Shook moderates.
