ART AS AN APPETIZER

In celebration of the culinary arts, Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945 – 1980 announces the new program Art As An Appetizer, featuring fare inspired by art in Pacific Standard Time exhibitions. Art As An Appetizer features a secret menu available at the acclaimed restaurants Playa and Rivera, and food truck meet-ups at three Pacific Standard Time museums – Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Santa Monica Museum of Art, and the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

The secret Pacific Standard Time menu at Playa and Rivera is available upon request from February 7 through March 31 for patrons who have visited one or more of the Pacific Standard Time museum exhibitions, performances, or related programs. The three-course menu was developed by celebrated chef/owner John Sedlar and artist Ron Cooper, who is represented in several Pacific Standard Time exhibitions and has crafted a line of handmade mezcals that will be featured in drinks developed by renowned mixologist Julian Cox.

In addition to the secret menu, a selection of popular Los Angeles food trucks, an integral part of the Los Angeles culinary scene, will participate in “meet-ups” over three Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., presenting special dishes inspired by the artwork inside Pacific Standard Time partner museums. On February 18, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will host the following food trucks:  Aunties Fry Bread, No Tomatoes, Coolhaus, Lobsta Truck, and Kings Corner BBQ.  On February 25, the Santa Monica Museum of Art in Bergamot Station will host Global Soul, Pnut Butter Truck, Tailgate Truck, Smokin Willies Truck and Asian Cravings along Michigan Avenue.  On March 3, the Pasadena Museum of California Art will host:  Border Grill, Casablanca Truck, Flat Iron Truck, Gourmet Genie and Go Chew.
